Han Lim Kwang

Indonesian struggle cannot be separated from the help of various groups of people, one of which is the Chinese community. Chinese citizens' struggle for Indonesian independence is no different from the struggle of other tribes. During the war of independence from 1945-1949 many fighters of Chinese descent were involved in fighting against the Dutch at the front, back line, or in the Dutch occupied territories. The veterans were found in a number of regions, such as East Java, Central Java, West Java, Jakarta, Sumatra and other regions in Indonesia.

One of them is Han Lim Kwang (Han Lian Kuang, 1911-1962), Ham Lim Kwang born in 1911 on Hainan Island, Kwangtung. Ham Lim Kwang has long lived in Makassar. His son remembers Han as a helpless man to the Dutch colonialists, because they oppress and exploit the people of Indonesia. in only helping Indonesian independence, Han opened a coffee shop which turned out to be the center of a secret meeting of the Makassar guerrillas from the Republican Tiger unit, where Han was also a member. Han died in December 1962 and his body received military honor from the Makassar Veterans Corps. But there are still many more who have not revealed their services.
